9 of the biggest reasons why Spinach is King?

Do you like fish???

Some people feel we need to eat fish to get our good oils.

Well, by including spinach in your diet you can take advantage of the same essential fatty acids that re found in fish.

These omega 3 nutrients can help keep the heartbeat regular, reduce the level of fatty substances in the blood and prevent blood clots from forming in the coronary arteries.

Dear Lifestyler,

How are you doing...thanks for reading, I appreciate you.

* It's all nutrients - it is rich in both iron and calcium and is an excellent source of beta-carotene, chlorophyll, vitamin C, riboflavin and potassium.

* It goes with everything--very versatile veggie. Chop it raw into salads or mix in with cooked food and is great for juicing with carrots, etc.

* If you are planning a baby, or are already pregnant, spinach should be top of your list. Just 100g provides ¾ of an adult's daily requirements and it is easily absorbed.

* Protection - those who are at risk of cancer, would benefit from adding spinach to regular meals or juice. The vegetable is one of the richest sources of protective carotenoids - containing more than other dark green fruits and veggies.

* Eye Sight - it is two of the carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthine) that play an essential role in protecting your eyesight. These have also been found to help reduce the risk of colon cancer.

* Blood-boosting - the iron and chlorophyll in spinach helps to build the blood, while its sulphur content helps clean the liver and relieve herpes irritations. It is both a diuretic and laxative.

* Fight signs of aging - spinach contains high levels of antioxidants, which help keep us healthy and young. Antioxidants are responsible for fighting free radical, which harm cells and DNA and cause aging.

* Getting your vits - Green leafy veggies, such as spinach are an excellent source of vitamin C. This nutrient is essential to help the immune system, encourage wound healing and protect against some forms of cancer. Our bodies cannot store the vitamin, so it is important to top up levels each day, particularly if your are prone to colds and infections.

Immune System: Could meat be a health hazard?

Immune booster
The best course of action to take sometimes isn't clear until you've listed and considered your alternatives.
Hello lifestyler,
How are you doing...

The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant.

Mmmm the smell of "char-grilled" steak is in the air.

Yeah...so what!

Well, could meat be a health hazard?

For years, researchers have reported that overcooking meat causes the formation of heterocyclic amines, which are known to trigger colon cancer.

The National Toxicology Program recently confirmed that some people may be at much higher risk due to a genetic trait.
So...it's not your fault!

Heterocyclic amines can cause DNA damage.

Your body has a number of defenses against this, and one of the most important is regulated by two particular genes (MLH1 and MSH2).
Its a fact that in many people these genes do not function properly from birth...
...Or they can malfunction later in life.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable.
You might also want to consider the following:

The end result is that these individuals lack the appropriate defense against these cancer-causing agents.
There is a genetic test that can tell you if you're one of them.

But here's a better idea:
  1. Do not char or overcook meat
  2. Instead, cook meat slowly on low heat for a longer period of time
  3. The best and most convenient way I've ever found to cook meat (fish and poultry) is over grill using volcanic rocks as a base...

Because you're able to cook without the flame, you can control the time and temperature precisely, so its very easy to cook meat slowly at a lower temperature.

Another idea is to do an online search for "Flavorwave oven" to find numerous suppliers.

Thanks for reading...

Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of cancer.
Share your new understanding about cancer with others.
They'll thank you for it.

Immune System: Blue with envy, is sugar okay for another day?

    Immune System

Thanks for reading today's tips, you have front row seats for Healthy Blood Sugar...
    -----
Sugar has always been sweet and tempting and yeah its addictive, too.
    ---
    But here’s the catch.
    ----
I have a little hint for you: You're most likely already aware that a lifetime of eating a high-sugar diet, and too many carbohydrates, is a real concern...
    ---
    Why?
    ---
(hope you're quick enough to grab these tips and run)...
    ----
    Hello Lifestyler,
    ----
For decades “health nuts,” including yours truly, have been jumping up and down ranting on about blood sugar!
    ---
Hmm, are you paying attention, lol.
    ---
And I really don't want to get your hopes up about being able to 'get it' at this point.
    ------
What I can tell you is just one simple thing like adding blueberry tea to your diet, this can help you to maintain blood sugar levels in the normal range.
    ----
You see, if you're smart, the fact is blueberry leaves (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) have been used traditionally in folk medicine to promote healthy blood sugar levels and insulin function.

Blueberry leaves are 10-15% chlorogenic acid, which may help to inhibit the enzyme in your liver that forms glucose.
    --
Blueberry may help to inhibit the breakdown of glycogen, which is the sugar that’s stored in your muscles:
    1. Split the food you eat into several smaller meals throughout the day
    2. If you normally eat a sandwich at noon, split it and eat half at your normal lunchtime and the other half mid-afternoon
      Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast
    3. Skipping meals signals your body that you are going into a starvation mode, (your body will automatically reduce your metabolic rate)
    4. Avoid artificial sweeteners (the sweet taste in your mouth triggers the release of insulin, even though there might not be any sugar present)
    5. Avoid soft drinks and all fruit juices, regardless of how they're sweetened
    6. Start exercising (for at least) a minimum of 15 minutes a day
    7. Exercise increases lean body tissue, aids in burning fat plus increases sensitivity to insulin, enabling the pancreas to produce less insulin
    8. Exercise raises your metabolic rate...

If you want to take this one step further, up another notch, then I'd suggest Gymnema sylvestre for an extra support and blood sugar advantage.

The leaves of the plant contain gymnemic acids, which research suggests helps to slow transport of glucose from the intestines into the bloodstream.

This may also help to support blood sugar in the normal range.

And recent studies suggest that 400 mg per day of gymnema extract, along with a healthy diet, decreased fasting glucose levels and promoted normal serum lipid levels.

In other words promote natural healthy blood sugar, and help maintain normal sugar tolerance, triglycerides, blood lipid and LDL cholesterol levels.

Stay tuned for the next issue where I'll explain the best approach for helping to keep your blood sugar levels in check...

    Yours truly,

Boost Immune...Ooops is that a cold sore lurking on your lips?

"Good plans shape good decisions. That's why good planning helps to make elusive dreams come true." -Lester Bittle -
    ------
If you've been soaking it up and enjoying lots of the good life...
    -----
    Feeling great about being outdoors.
    -----
You feel healthy, your hair and body feels great and you're on fire (a little flirtatious)...

Oops, whats that on your lips?
    --
Sometimes we just assume that weather is a cause of cold sores or fever blisters (they're the same thing), but they're really caused by a herpes virus that's triggered by intense exposure to ultraviolet light.
    -----
But have you checked your toothpaste?
    -----
Make sure the tooth paste you're using is sodium-lauryl-sulfate free.

    Dear Valued Friend,

Thanks for your valuable time and continued support, you're much appreciated.
Did you know that although most of the population carry the virus herpes...simplex (HSV), not everyone gets attacks or cold sores.
The good news is you can take steps to quickly evict these little critters, if you act swiftly...

These canker soars and mouth herpes (simplex 1) are quite common and indicate recurrent body chemistry imbalance, sometimes coupled with a hypothyroid condition usually triggered by a food allergy.

These mouth soars are more prevelant in winter than warm months occurring on the lips, tongue, inside the cheeks or on the gums.

They're generally the result of an infection ocurring during childhood, the virus passes through the skin, travels up a nerve.
And then hides in a nerve junction until reactivated after a fever, illness, body stress and reduced immunity.
The virus travels down the nerve to te face where it starts to replicate...causing the tingling sensation.

Soars can be caused by Crohn's disease, gluten sensitivity, over-acid diet, emotional stress, nutrient deficiences B complex, iron or folic acid, and also in women due to hormone imbalances during mentral cycles...

    Here are some health-care tips:

1: Wash your hands before and after treating the cold sore as to avoid making it worse or giving the infection to someone else.

2: Apply a cream ormedicine to the affected area 5 times daily about every 4 hours.

3: Continue the treament for 5 days, if the cold sore has not healed after this time, or if your sore becomes very severe, consult your doctor.

    Apply aloe vera:

Take aloe vera juice internally or apply aloe vera skin gel frequently.

    Dab on acyclovir:

This is an antiviral drug that can be used against the herpes virus.

If you get it in place fairly quickly, the cold sore may go away without even showing up.

Here's a great tip...carry a tube of the stuff because you never know when you'll get that tingling feeling.

    Block the sun:

These days with the 'global warming' issues and intense sunlight, it pays to always wear a sun block of at least 30 factor, especially over those areas where you get cold sores.

Use a sun protection lip balm with zinc.

    Chill out:

Applying ice packs frequently, directly to the sore four or five times a day may send the virus scuttling right back to the ganglia, cutting the time you have to suffer.

Followed by vitamin E oil application for healing...or take 2 vitamin E 500IU capsules daily.

    Wash and dry:

Keep your sores clean and dry washing with soap and water, then lightly patting dry, will keep it from getting worse.

Beat your soars to the punch:

Prevention is always better than a cure...

Add 100mg daily of vitamin B supplements to your diet with extra B6 250mg and panathothenic acid 100mg 3 times a day.

Studies have shown that some of these vitamins, such as riboflavin and folate, are especially good at preventig sores around the edges and in corners of your mouth.

    Snuff it out:

Campho-phenique is an over-the-counter medication that will dry your soar and help it go away. Be cautious because this medication could dry your blister out so much that your lesion will crack and bleed.

    Naturally zinc:

Apply a water-based zinc cream to help speed healing the minute you feel the tingling sensation.
Zinc may inhibit the herpes virus from duplication.

If you apply a zinc sulfate in camhorated water solution every 30 to 60 minutes during the onset of the soar, sores heal in an average 5.3 days.

Hold off on the kissing because the herpes simplex virus is contagious.

Avoid touching your eyes, breaking the blisters and picking the scabs. Not only can you infect your fingers, you may infect your cold sore with other germs (eg bacteria)

Avoid sharing your eating and drinking utensils...

Avoid sharing the same towel with other people.

Relax more, get plenty of sleep, rest and get out of the hot sun.
If you must then use sunblock more often...
    Yours truly
